Private Varsities Lead TG EAPCET Race

Hyderabad: The state’s engineering admissions this year showed a familiar divide, with private universities nearly filling 99 per cent of seats, computer science and AI courses continuing to dominate preferences, and government engineering colleges filled just 21 per cent of their seats.

At the end of the final phase of TG Eapcet counselling, 75,054 admissions were made against 94,156 seats, leaving 19,102 seats vacant across 176 engineering institutions. Overall seat occupancy stood at 80 per cent.

Candidates allotted seats must complete fee payment, self-reporting and physical reporting by August 7, while internal sliding is scheduled for August 12 and 13.

During the final round, 35,096 candidates exercised web options, submitting more than 11.06 lakh choices. While 19,811 students upgraded to a preferred college or branch, 3,281 secured allotments for the first time, and 51,962 retained their earlier allotments.

Among institutions, private universities recorded the highest occupancy at 99 per cent, followed by private colleges (80 per cent) and university colleges (69 per cent).

Government engineering colleges had the lowest occupancy at 21 per cent. A total of 5,771 students secured admissions under the economically weaker sections (EWS) quota.
