Ponguleti Questions KCR, KTR Over Assets
Revenue Minister raises questions over BRS leaders’ election affidavits
Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Thursday questioned the source of assets owned by BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and challenged BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s claims about the family’s ancestral property, amid the ongoing row over the Section 22A prohibited land list.
Referring to Chandrashekar Rao as a ‘bhubakasur’ (land grabber), Srinivas Reddy questioned how the former chief minister, who he said had declared no agricultural land in his 2004 election affidavit for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, subsequently acquired properties worth thousands of crores.
“The Kalvakuntla gang was caught red-handed via election affidavits! How did KCR — who declared in his 2004 Karimnagar Lok Sabha election affidavit that he did not own even a single acre of land — come to possess lands worth thousands of crores now?,” Srinivas Reddy asked in his post on X.
The minister claimed that Chandrashekar Rao’s landholdings had increased during the Telangana movement and his subsequent tenure as the chief minister, citing election affidavits submitted by the BRS chief.
“While Telangana activists were left with nothing but debts during the movement. How did the KCR family acquire assets worth lakhs of crores, during its ten-year tenure ? It was by plundering government lands, as well as lands belonging to the poor and Dalits, wasn't it? The Kalvakuntla family illegally amassed assets worth lakhs of crores upon the foundation of the activists' sacrifices,” he alleged.
Srinivas Reddy also questioned Rama Rao over his claims regarding ancestral property and referred to the BRS working president’s 2009 election affidavit.
“‘Drama Rao', who lies claiming KCR owned hundreds of acres from birth, did he commit fraud by entering incorrect details in the election affidavits? Or is he lying to the people now?” he asked.
Pointing out that Rama Rao had declared one acre of land in his 2009 election affidavit, the minister questioned how his landholdings subsequently increased.
“For years, Rama Rao boasted about his ‘American success’ and claimed he had owned hundreds of acres since childhood. But his own 2009 election affidavit tells a different story, where he has mentioned just one acre of land. So how did 1 acre become hundreds of acres worth thousands of crores,” Srinivas Reddy asked.
Srinivas Reddy further alleged that Rama Rao had targeted government land and land assigned to Dalits by using the Dharani portal while the BRS was in power.
“Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has exposed the Kalvakuntla family’s land loot in the Assembly with evidence. After amassing vast properties under his family’s rule, Rama Rao now lectures Telangana about morality,” Srinivas Reddy said.
