HYDERABAD: Hyderabad city police has instituted annual awards to recognise officers who secure convictions through scientific investigation and professional brilliance commissioner V.C. Sajjanar announced.
The ‘Excellence Award for Best Investigation’ was introduced this year, with 14 personnel, four investigation officers and 10 court duty officers, selected for ensuring convictions ranging from five years’ imprisonment to life sentences. Under the ‘Best Performance’ category, 18 personnel were honoured for proactive policing. In all, 32 officers were recognised for merit and dedication between June 2025 and May 2026.
Awardees included three inspectors, three sub-inspectors, five assistant sub-inspectors, three head constables and four constables. Selection was based on professionalism from FIR registration to final conviction. Sajjanar said the initiative aims to elevate standards and inspire field staff to rely on scientific evidence.
The awards were presented during Telangana Formation Day celebrations at the City Armed Reserve headquarters, Petlaburj. Sajjanar said: “Registering a case is only the first step. The mandate of the police is to ensure justice for victims by securing convictions through robust evidence.”
