Nalgonda: Julurupadu police on Thursday arrested a person in the case of brutal killing of a nursing student at Vengannapalem of Julurupadu mandal in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. The accused was identified as Devarakonda Praveen Kumar.

A 18-year-old B.Sc. (Nursing) Indravelli Harini was found dead on the premises of her house at Vengannapalem on September 22.

Presenting the arrested youth at a media conference in Julurupad police station, Kothagudem DSP L. Adinarayana informed that the police were primarily filed a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS and converted into a murder case under Section 103(1) of the BNS after receiving the post-mortem report. Praveen Kumar strangulated Harini. Pawan Kumar, had been absconding since death of Harini. He was residing in the house beside to Harini’s home and addicted to alcohol. He developed enmity against Harini for rejecting his love proposal.

After killing her, Praveen fled from the place and hided his motorcycle in the bushes near Sitarama Project canal. He spent nine days by visiting Visakhapatnam and Thirupathi. He came to Ontigudese Road to take his motorcycle and eke livelihood by using it for Rapido in Visakhapatnam.

On a tip off, the police arrested Praveen Kumar at Sitarama Project canal near the Ontigudese Road, the police said.
