Nalgonda,: The staff of the Primary Health Centre (PHC), including a doctor, were attacked by a reportedly mentally unstable person at Pochampally in the Yadadri-Bhongir district on Thursday.

Dudyala Venkata Thirupathi, who was a resident of Mahammaya Colony in Pochampally, came to Pochampally PHC for treatment for an injury to one of his legs. After the hospital staff completed the dressing of the injury, he enraged and attacked three employees, including two women. He also damaged a computer in the PHC. He also attacked the doctor, Dr K. Swetha, and took away her stethoscope. Later, he directly went to the police station of Pochampally.

The employees of the PHC, who went to the police station to complain about the matter, were surprised after seeing the person there.

The staff of Pochampally PHC boycotted the duties and staged a protest demonstration at the PHC by wearing black badges demanding stringent action against the person who attacked them. They alleged that the police took the incident easy, saying the person was mentally unstable.

Pochampally sub-inspector J. Jagan informed us that a case was filed against the person based on the complaint of PHC staff and an investigation was launched.
