Truck rams two-wheeler near Peddemul; 11-year-old among dead

Hyderabad: Three members of a farmer’s family, including an 11‑year‑old girl, died when their two-wheeler was hit by a truck in the early hours of Monday. A 13‑year‑old boy survived with critical injuries.

The accident occurred around 5 am near Tattepalli in Peddemul, Vikarabad district. Police said the family had attended a Gadapa Kadi ceremony at Rukmapur the previous evening and were returning to Zaheerabad when the collision took place.

The victims were identified as M. Pavani, her husband M. Kaviraj, and their daughter Keerthana. Their son M. Karthik, is undergoing treatment at Tandur Government Hospital and is said to be recovering.

Pavani’s elder sister, K Sravanthi, told Deccan Chronicle: “My sister Pavani, brother‑in‑law Kaviraj and daughter Keertana died on the spot. Karthik is under treatment and doctors said he will recover soon. I will take care of him.”

Police said the truck (TS 08 UH 0018), heading from Zaheerabad towards Tandur, rammed the Activa (TS 15 FH 1030). The driver, Mohammad Sharif, has been arrested. His blood samples were collected to check for drunk driving.

The bodies were shifted to Tandur Government Hospital for post‑mortem. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving under Section 106 BNS has been registered, said SI Prashant Vardhan. The victims’ bodies have been handed over to family members for last rites.
