PMJ Heist To Be Taught to Trainee DSPs at National Police Academy

Karimnagar: The Union home ministry has decided to include the PMJ jewellery theft case as a study module for trainee DSPs at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
Karimnagar Police Commissioner Goush Alam, who was involved in detecting the case, will deliver a lecture to trainee officers on July 18.
Officials said the case revealed several new methods adopted by the accused to evade detection. The suspects stayed about 65 km away from the target location in Dharmapuri using fake Aadhaar cards, and avoided main roads by using interior routes to escape CCTV surveillance.
They also used fake number plates on vehicles and destroyed evidence, including mobile phones, after the offence.
Investigators found that five persons directly involved in the theft did not know each other prior to the incident. A total of 13 persons were involved, operating in separate groups that handled logistics such as arranging vehicles, weapons, fake identification and collection of stolen jewellery.
Instead of regular phone communication, the accused used mobile applications to coordinate. The operation was allegedly controlled by kingpin Subodh Singh from a jail in Bihar.
Officials said the case has been included in training as it provides insights into evolving methods of organised crime and investigation techniques.
