Panel To Identify Telangana Activists
Its ultimate objective is to compile a comprehensive, verified list and recommend specific state honours, facilities and courtesies for eligible activists.
HYDERABAD: The first meeting of the Telangana Movement Activists Recognition Committee (TMARC) on Sunday resolved to formally identify, recognise and honour Telangana Udyamakarulu (statehood movement activists).
The newly formed panel is chaired by Government advisor Keshavarao. The high‑level meeting at his residence was attended by Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC Prof. M. Kodandaram, MLC Addanki Dayakar, former MLC Ramulu Naik and Mothe Shobhan Reddy. It was decided to categorise genuine participants under four groups — martyrs, injured activists, those facing legal or incarceration cases, and grassroots‑level participants.
The committee will set up its office beneath the Amaraveerula Jyothi (Martyrs’ Memorial flame) opposite the Secretariat. An all‑party meeting will be convened shortly to seek wider proposals on recognising martyrs. The panel also plans statewide district tours to hold public consultations and invite suggestions from joint action committees, employee unions, artists, lawyers, caste associations and activists dating back to the 1969 movement.
Its ultimate objective is to compile a comprehensive, verified list and recommend specific state honours, facilities and courtesies for eligible activists.
