Open More Govt Schools in Urban Areas, Urges TSUTF
On the issue of teacher deputations, he said redeployment should be prioritised based on students’ convenience rather than teachers’ personal needs.
Nalgonda: Former Teachers’ MLC Alugubelli Narsi Reddy on Saturday urged the state government to increase the number of government schools in proportion to the student population in both rural and urban areas.
Addressing a district committee meeting of the Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) in Nalgonda, he said the existing number of government schools was inadequate to meet rising demand, particularly in urban areas witnessing growth due to industrialisation, urbanisation and migration.
He called upon Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to establish more government schools in towns and cities to match the increase in student population. Citing Nalgonda town as an example, he said while there were about 44,000 students, only 5,000 were enrolled in government schools.
On the issue of teacher deputations, he said redeployment should be prioritised based on students’ convenience rather than teachers’ personal needs.
TSUTF state vice-president M. Rajashekhar Reddy said only 75 per cent of textbooks had reached government schools so far, while uniforms and student kits were yet to be supplied. He said the government had earlier assured that these items would be distributed on the first day of school reopening after the summer vacation.
