BRS Warns Against Deletion of Genuine Voters in SIR
R.S. Praveen Kumar cautioned that votes of BRS supporters could also be removed if BLAs failed to monitor the process
Nalgonda: BRS general secretary and Nalgonda in-charge R.S. Praveen Kumar on Saturday asked party Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to remain vigilant during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and prevent deletion of genuine voters from electoral rolls.
Addressing an awareness programme on SIR and the digital membership drive, he alleged that the BJP had benefited in recent Assembly elections in West Bengal and Bihar due to deletion of votes of supporters of regional parties. He claimed that even the vote of former Union minister Smriti Irani was deleted, indicating the seriousness of the issue. He cautioned that votes of BRS supporters could also be removed if BLAs failed to monitor the process.
He advised BLAs to be present when Booth Level Officers visit households for SIR surveys and to assist voters in producing required documents.
Former minister and BRS MLA G. Jagadish Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister was planning a major scam linked to a proposed Rs 13,000 crore HAM road project in Nalgonda, with a foundation stone expected to be laid on June 17. He termed the event an attempt by roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to please the Chief Minister and alleged that development in Nalgonda had stalled over the past two-and-a-half years.
MLC Mankena Koti Reddy and former MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy were among those present at the meeting.
