Banjara Hills police have cracked a sensational conspiracy in which a young nurse allegedly hired a supari gang to kidnap her ex‑boyfriend and extort ₹9 crore. The plan, however, collapsed with her arrest.

The accused, Payam Mounika, 25, was taken into custody along with six gang members from Kothagudem. During interrogation, she revealed that she met Nikhil, 26, at a city pub, and their friendship developed into a live‑in relationship lasting over a year. While living together, she gathered financial details about him. Later, she filed a cheating complaint against Nikhil at Gachibowli police station. Though a case was registered, Nikhil secured bail due to lack of evidence.

Police said Mounika bore a grudge after Nikhil broke off the relationship. She demanded money from him in return for withdrawing the case, but he refused. Angered, she plotted to kidnap him and extort money. Along with the gang, she abducted Nikhil’s friend Mahesh and businessman Sai Srikanth, extorting ₹13.60 lakh.

Based on Srikanth’s complaint, SI B. Srinivas and his team launched an investigation. Mounika, a resident of Amberpet, and six others — rowdy‑sheeter Anwar Bhai, 60, Sunkari Prasad Doddi, 56, Mareneni Raju, 48, Kanakam Sudheer of Khammam, Nagaraju of Polkampally, and John of Alwal — were arrested. Two others, Kanakam Mahesh of Khammam and Chandu of NBT Nagar, remain absconding.

Dummy firearms were recovered from the accused. Police said further investigation and official disclosure of arrests are underway.
