HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao urged the state’s youth to embrace a “nation first” agenda and join nationalist forces, saying imminent delimitation will open new opportunities for young leaders. Speaking at a packed NaMo GenZ Conclave in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Rao appealed to Gen Z to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to protect the nation and accelerate Telangana’s development.

Rao described the call to join nationalist forces as a “dharma yuddha” against what he termed divisive politics from the Congress. Framing the debate as nationalism versus imported protest culture, he said, “India’s youth believe in democracy, development and nationalism. Today, Gen Z stands with Modi.”

Encouraging career choices based on passion rather than social or family pressure, Rao urged young people to consider arts, commerce, law and vocational streams alongside engineering. He highlighted government schemes such as Start‑Up India, Stand‑Up India, Skill India and MUDRA as creating an ecosystem for youth to become job creators.

Listing education and employment achievements since 2014, Rao cited increases in medical colleges and MBBS seats, expansion of IITs and IIITs, growth in higher‑education institutions and IT capacity, and loan disbursements under Vidya Lakshmi. He said these measures have helped reduce unemployment from about 6 per cent to 3.1 per cent.

Rao challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over what he called unfulfilled promises, asking: “Where is the job calendar? Where is fee reimbursement? What happened to the unemployment allowance?” He accused the state Congress government  and earlier the BRS of failing the youth by prioritising commissions and contracts over employment and development, and warned against attempts to undermine national institutions.

BJP legislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy said cultural nationalism has revived across the country, noting that young people are more comfortable publicly following religious practices since Modi assumed office.

Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender, BJP legislators Palvai Harish Babu and C. Anji Reddy, BJYM state president Ganesh Kunde and other party leaders attended the conclave.
