Hyderabad:The success of HYDRAA in reclaimed hundreds of acres of land is now being misused by unscrupulous real estate agents and developers. Several agents are falsely claiming that their properties carry prior permissions and no objection certificates (NOCs) from HYDRAA. Some have even advertised such claims in newspaper classifieds to lure buyers.

Officials clarified that HYDRAA, as an enforcement agency, has no authority to issue NOCs certifying that properties are outside full tank level (FTL) or buffer zones of lakes. It only issues fire mitigation certificates under specific circumstances and does not clear properties for development.

Pandari Kumar, a real estate agent from Ghatkesar, said, “Many developers forge NOCs and try to sell properties with false claims. HYDRAA had warned earlier that strict action would be taken, but the practice continues.”

Another agent, requesting anonymity, recounted an incident where a friend was nearly duped. “The property owner claimed HYDRAA clearance, but I knew the agency doesn’t issue NOCs. I warned my friend, and he dropped the deal.”

A HYDRAA official confirmed that many individuals visit their office seeking such certificates. “We do not issue any NOC or clearance for structures near water bodies. We have received complaints about agents making false claims. We will take strict action against anyone found using fake documents,” he explained. HYDRAA urged the public to remain cautious and verify all claims directly with relevant planning authorities.
