NIMS Addl Medical Superintendent Bhaskar Suspended After ACB Arrest

The suspension order would remain in force until further orders. The action follows after Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Bhaskar and detected disproportionate assets worth Rs.6.13 crore.

In the order, NIMS Director Rahul Devraj said the ACB through radio messages stated that a case relating to allegations of disproportionate assets has been registered against Bhaskar and that he was arrested and detained in custody with effect from September 22.

It was further reported that the period of his detention in custody has exceeded forty-eight hours. As per Rule 8(2)(a) of the applicable Telangana State Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1991, a government servant who is detained in custody, whether on a criminal charge or otherwise, for a period exceeding forty-eight hours shall be deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from the date of detention by the authority competent to impose suspension.

Under Section 18(2)(c) of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1989, the Director is responsible for imparting instructions and maintenance of discipline in the institute.

The Government, vide Memo No. 2044/VC-1/2026-1, dated September 26, 2026, Health, Medical and Family Welfare (VC) Department, has requested the Director, NIMS, Hyderabad, to place Bhaskar under deemed suspension from the date of detention, if not already done, as per the rules in force, and to take further action accordingly.

The competent authority, after careful consideration of the ACB’s messages, has placed Bhaskar under suspension. During the period of suspension, Bhaskar shall be paid subsistence allowance according to rules.
