Hyderabad:The Warangal project implementation unit (PIU) of the Hyderabad regional office (RO) won the first place for median plantation, in awards instituted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The Amaravati PIU of the Vijayawada RO bagged the first prize for avenue plantation.

Nominations for the NHAI Green Highways Excellence Awards for the year awards were invited through an online portal. The NHAI evaluated the shortlisted nominations to select the winners. The evaluation was based on a 100-mark criterion encompassing the survival rate of plantations, site-specific action plans, quality of planting material, protection measures, and species diversity, among other parameters.

The Nagpur PIU won the first price for plantation in land parcels.
