In a case of revenge and repeated bloodletting within a family, the police have arrested Gandham Santosh -- the prime accused in the murder of Chittari Hari Babu, husband of murdered popular woman YouTuber, Gandham Vaishnavi.

As per the police, in a revengeful act, Vaishnavi’s brother Santosh murdered his brother-in-law Hari Babu in Nizamabad on September 17. This murder was committed in the presence of Gandham Rani, the mother of Vaishnavi.

Police investigations revealed shocking details of the hacking-to-death case, leading to the arrest of prime accused Gandham Santhosh within a couple of days. Santosh has been sent to judicial remand for 14 days

Previously, Hari Babu, his mother Lakshmi and his two brothers had been arrested following the March 17 murder of Hari Babu’s wife, You Tuber Gandham Vaishnavi, in Korutla. They were later released on bail.

Fearing retaliation from Vaishnavi’s family, Hari Babu and his mother then shifted to Nizamabad and started selling corn near Raja Rajendra Chowrasta

“Santosh, brother of Vaishnavi, allegedly driven by revenge, came to Nizamabad from Korutla in a white Swift Dzire (TS-36A-4843) along with his mother Gandham Rani, relatives Charan and Ranjith and others on September 17,” police investigations showed.

Santosh attacked Hari Babu with a knife while he was drinking water near a pani puri stall opposite Giriraj Complex and fled in the car.

Police said, “Since Hari Babu and his family members were temporarily staying at Sainagar colony in Nizamabad, we registered a case in Nizamabad II town police station on Sept 17, based on a complaint from Hari Babu’s mother, Chittari Lakshmi. Special teams were formed under the supervision of police commissioner Sai Chaitanya. Technical evidence and CCTV footage were used to identify the accused.”

Four special teams launched a search and traced Santosh near the Nizamabad Bypass road on Saturday.

Police said Santosh attempted to flee but was apprehended. “He was trying to reach the railway station to travel to Visakhapatnam, where his mother-in-law lives.”

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, commissioner Sai Chaitanya said police teams are on the trais of the other accused in the murder case. Direct and in-direct involvement of persons in the murder of Chittari Hari Babu will be ascertained, he said.
