Modi Slams Telangana Over Kancha Land
He says Congress government bulldozed forests and wildlife
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Telangana government of forgetting the promises that it had made to people and running bulldozers over forests and wildlife. This is the first time that Modi spoke on the Kancha Gachibowli land controversy.
Addressing a public meeting in Yamunanagar in Haryana, the Prime Minister asked people to notice the difference between two models of running the government, which were present before them.
“The Congress government has a work culture of causing damage to nature, animals and plucking away the forests. On the other hand, the BJP government is generating power from the waste,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that the “Congress model was proved wrong as they always think of the chair (power). But the BJP model of running the government runs on the principles of truth, and ideals set forth by Dr B.R. Ambedkar. BJP governments always follow the Constitution as the abiding principle in running the government with a vision to make the country a Viksit Bharat.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks on Kancha Gachibowli land assume significance as the Central Empowered Committee, constituted by the Supreme Court, will be submitting its report to the Supreme Court on April 16.
During their two-day visit, the Central Empowered Committee inspected the controversial site and met the student community from University of Hyderabad, academicians, environmentalists, members from different political parties and representatives of the government, who submitted their point of view on those lands.
Taking advantage of the Prime Minister’s comments, the Telangana BJP shared his comments on its social media accounts with a tagline that BJP believes in dharmic rule.
Congress affairs incharge Meenkshi Natarajan conducted a review meeting on the issue following hue and cry from different sections over the controversial lands issue.
