Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy visited the eco-friendly home of an 85-year-old Venkateswarlu Mandava, a former DRDO scientist, in Habsiguda, and witnessed how everyday household resources can be used more responsibly.

The kitchen waste was transformed into compost for home-grown vegetables and waste paper and small wood pieces were reused for water heating apart from reusing ash around plants. The rainwater harvesting is developed to support groundwater recharge.

His lifestyle shows that sustainability doesn’t always require big investments—just thoughtful habits that reduce waste and conserve resources.
