Revanth Reddy Reviews Tummidihetti, Dindi and Achampet Projects
Revanth Reddy asked officials to assess the water availability at the proposed height and explain the extent of submergence within Maharashtra's boundaries
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday asked irrigation officials to prepare proposals and all necessary reports to hold discussions with the Maharashtra government on constructing the Tummidihetti barrage.
At a review meeting on irrigation projects held at Bodhi Pavilion, the Chief Minister stressed the need to ensure irrigation water for two lakh acres in the erstwhile Adilabad district, a predominantly forested and tribal region that requires focused development.
Revanth Reddy asked officials to assess the water availability at the proposed height and explain the extent of submergence within Maharashtra's boundaries. He also directed them to compile details of recent meetings held in New Delhi and prepare the necessary material to convince the Maharashtra government about the proposal.
The Chief Minister had earlier indicated that discussions with Maharashtra would be initiated after October 23.
On the Dindi and Achampet lift irrigation projects, the Chief Minister instructed officials to lift 0.5 TMC of water from the Eedula reservoir for Dindi and 0.1 TMC for the Achampet lift irrigation scheme.
He also directed them to make alternative arrangements to bring an additional 0.6 TMC of water from Srisailam and Narlapur to the Eedula reservoir. Revanth said the proposed arrangements would not affect water supplies to the Palamuru region.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to immediately take up the required pump houses, pumps and related systems to facilitate water lifting for the two projects.
