MLC Jeevan Reddy urges CM to allot land for Krishi Vignana Kendra in Jagtial

Hyderabad: Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy on Saturday requested the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to allot land for establishing Krishi Vignana Kendra in Jagtial district.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Jeevan Reddy said the Indian Council of Agriculture Research in New Delhi has allotted 16 Krishi Vigyan Kendras to Telangana to establish them in newly formed districts through universities in the State.

The Kendras would provide technical support and guidance to the farmers in agriculture and allied sectors like horticulture, veterinary, plant protection, extension, home science, fisheries etc., to improve the socio economic status of farmers by providing quality seed, plant and other research technologies.

“There is a lot of feasibility for establishing a Krishi Vigyna Kendra in Jagtial, which has a good water source, fertile lands to cultivate multiple crops and the district is also known as a hub for mangos by exporting quality produce to other countries,” he said.

The district is distinguished with different crops like paddy, maize, pulses, sugarcane, turmeric, mango, oil palm, chilli, fisheries and good scope for dairy and other livestock production and vegetable crops.

Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University is proposing to establish a new Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Jagtial and requested to provide 50 acres of cultivable land free of cost for establishing these Kendras as per ICAR guidelines.

“We request you to do needful for allotting 50 acres of government land in Jagtial Assembly segment for the benefit of farmers,” he added.
