Minister Uttam Instructs Officials to Resume Mid Manair Left Canal Works
Officials promised the minister that the detailed project report (DPR) would be submitted by the end of August.
Karimnagar:Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday instructed officials to resume the Mid Manair Left Canal works, which have remained stalled for the last four and half years.
“Quickly resolve the land-related issues. Prepare simultaneously the revised estimates for land acquisition, tenders, and legitimate permissions. Works should not be stalled in the name of procedure,” the minister underlined.
Uttam Kumar, along with ministers Tummala Nageshwar Rao, D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Adluri laxman Kumar participated in a review meeting with officials. During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing irrigation projects in the erstwhile Karimnagar district.
MLAs, collectors, and officials of stakeholder departments from Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial, and Rajanna-Sircilla districts participated in the meeting held at the Secretariat in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, the Irrigation minister asked officials to speed up the works of Pathipaka reservoir, which would benefit Dharmapuri, Choppadandi, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, and Manthani assembly constituencies. The reservoir would create 10,000 acres of new ayacut, apart from stabilising cultivation in 2.40 lakh acres under the Kakatiya canal from D-83 to D-94.
