Mallaram Wins National Award for Digital E-Panchayat Model
Live-streams gram sabha, resolves grievances online.
Karimnagar: Mallaram village in Vemulawada mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district has won first prize at the national-level ‘Digital Krishi-Samridhi Gaav’ competition for transforming itself into a fully digital e-panchayat. The award, organised by the Quality Council of India, was presented in April.
The initiative was led by sarpanch Sangam Arpitha, who introduced digital governance measures after assuming office in December 2025. With technical support from her son, Samhith Reddy, a BTech student, the gram panchayat launched a dedicated website in February to streamline civic and administrative services.
The village, with a population of around 2,500, has seen significant adoption of the platform, with about 60 per cent of residents using it for civic and agricultural services over the past three months. The website, designed in Telugu, provides real-time weather updates, farming advisories and crop suggestions through an AI-based system. It also includes a slot-booking facility for farmers at procurement centres to reduce waiting time.
Officials said the platform ensures transparency by displaying details of panchayat income, expenditure, fund allocations and development works. Gram sabha meetings are also live-streamed. The grievance redressal system has been integrated into the platform, with complaints resolved within 48 hours or escalated to higher authorities where required.
Sangam Arpitha Reddy said, “There are around 200 to 300 youth from our village living abroad in various countries and across the nation. Now, they are able to easily see and understand exactly what development is going on in their native village through the website. Deriving inspiration from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's Vision 2047 and Prime Minister Modi's Digital India initiatives, we decided to transform our entire gram panchayat into a digital e-panchayat.”
She said the initiative demonstrated that digital governance was achievable in rural areas with community participation and use of technology, and added that efforts would continue to develop Mallaram as a model village.
