Hyderabad:Self-skidding and wrong-side driving caused 241 accidents, leaving 56 people dead and 218 injured in Malkajgiri Commissionerate limits up to July 2026, according to traffic police data.
Of the two, self-skidding accounted for 88 accidents, including 47 fatal crashes that claimed 49 lives. The remaining 41 non-fatal accidents left 55 people injured.
Wrong-side driving accounted for 153 accidents, including seven fatal crashes that resulted in seven deaths. The remaining 146 accidents left 163 people injured.
Traffic inspector K. Pradeep said traffic data recorded up to July showed that self-skidding and wrong-side driving were the two major factors behind the road accidents.
The figures showed that self-skidding resulted in more fatalities, while wrong-side driving accounted for a higher number of accidents and injuries.
Traffic authorities stressed the need for stricter enforcement against wrong-side driving and urged motorists to maintain controlled speeds to prevent self-skidding accidents.
