Laxman Pays tributes To Operation Polo Martyrs
On the occasion marking the commencement of Operation Polo, and under the aegis of the Telangana State Liberation Celebrations Committee, he paid tributes at the war tank on Tank Bund on Sunday and felicitated ex‑servicemen.
Hyderbad: K. Laxman, BJP Parliamentary Board member and Rajya Sabha MP, said the sacrifices of martyrs of Operation Polo—who laid down their lives for India’s integrity and the freedom of Telangana—are unforgettable.
On the occasion marking the commencement of Operation Polo, and under the aegis of the Telangana State Liberation Celebrations Committee, he paid tributes at the war tank on Tank Bund on Sunday and felicitated ex‑servicemen.
Laxman described Sept. 13, 1948, as a day inscribed in golden letters in India’s history. He recalled that though the country gained independence on Aug. 15, 1947, the Nizam Nawab, backed by Razakars, conspired to keep the region out of India.
He said the people of Telangana fought heroically against atrocities, sexual violence and looting under that rule.
He stated that after the Narendra Modi government came to power, the official observance of Telangana Liberation Day began through the initiative of Union home minister Amit Shah, whom he termed a modern‑day Sardar Patel.
Laxman criticised both the previous BRS and the present Congress governments for aligning with the communal MIM party, which he said shares the legacy of the Razakars.
He alleged the Congress government, by yielding to the MIM, is obscuring the history of Telangana’s liberation. He asserted that full justice to this heroic history would be done only when the BJP comes to power in the state.
