The 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant in 2025 is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad between May 10 and 31.

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) claimed the Congress-led state government was spending Rs 250 crore on hosting the Miss World competition in Hyderabad.

Netizens quickly refuted this, citing official data showing the actual cost as Rs 27 crore, partly offset by sponsorships. KTR’s criticism of the event as an unnecessary spectacle was overshadowed by his inaccurate figures, labeled “fake news” online.
Social media users highlighted past lavish spending under KTR’s administration, noting the irony. His attempt to criticise the Congress government backfired, with many now questioning his credibility.

Congress MP posted: The Telangana government has taken the Miss World competition with utmost prestige, but even on that, @KTRBRS is spewing venom. The expenditure for these competitions is only ₹27 crore, and the government is collecting a large part of it from sponsors. Just like the Formula E car race you conducted... how can you assume everyone engages in scams, KTR?
