KTR Tells Revanth To Keep Promises Made To Singareni Workers
A profit share of more than 36 per cent must be paid to Singareni workers: Rama Rao
HYDERABAD: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy immediately stop reported plans to sell the state government’s shares in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to private entities. He also demanded that all the promises made to Singareni workers by the Congress before the elections be fulfilled.
In an open letter to Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao said though three years have passed since Congress came to power, the government had failed to implement promises to SCCL workers. “While workers are contributing their blood and sweat and bringing profits worth thousands of crores of rupees to the organization, the government is doing injustice by not giving them their rightful share of those profits,” Rama Rao said.
Rama Rao said that a profit share of more than 36 per cent must be paid to Singareni workers on the actual profits of the company.
He said that the government must pay ₹60,000 crore that it owes SCCL paid immediately and that, as per the Congress’ election promises, income-tax on perks must be refunded to the workers. For the own house scheme, workers must be given 250 square yards of land and an interest-free loan of ₹20 lakh, and the problem of name changes must be resolved and employment opportunities must be provided to dismissed workers, he said.
