WARANGAL: Minister Konda Surekha maintained silence on Tuesday when questioned about the controversy surrounding her daughter Konda Sushmitha Patel’s remarks against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during her visit to Warangal.

The media gathered at the RangaSaipet Government Junior College, where Surekha was participating in a Vanamahotsavam programme, expecting her to respond to the controversy. However, she repeatedly declined to comment when asked about her daughter’s remarks and the possibility of action by the party disciplinary committee.

Surekha planted a sapling (Nagalingam) on the college premises as part of the programme and did not respond to questions on the issue.

Reports have emerged that several party leaders have sought action against Surekha. She is also understood to have met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and presented her side of the matter.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said the final decision on the matter rests with the party high command, keeping Congress circles on alert over the possible course of action.

Surekha’s silence during her Warangal visit has added to speculation within party circles over the high command’s next move.
