Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday faulted BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao for branding the Congress the “villain of Telangana.”

Addressing supporters in Nalgonda, Komatireddy highlighted Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s pivotal role in securing statehood in 2014, recalling how Chandrashekar Rao and 14 family members had publicly thanked her — touching her feet and later calling her the “Goddess of Telangana” in the Assembly. “It is contradictory for him now to vilify the party without which Telangana would not exist,” the minister said, accusing Chandrashekar Rao’s family of amassing assets worth ₹10 lakh crore during a decade in power.

Komatireddy also challenged local Congress cadres to outdo the BRS’s recent silver-jubilee rally, asserting they could organise a larger public meeting in Nalgonda within a week.
