Khammam: The Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) has stepped up efforts to keep the city clean and attractive by using modern road-sweeping machines and an AI-based application to monitor the cleaning of major roads.

KMC Commissioner Abhishek Augustya has launched the Khammam Clean App, which digitally monitors road-cleaning activities across the city. The app uses the master plan map provided by the Stambadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA), under which every street in Khammam has been digitally mapped.

A total of 3,271 roads have been included in the digital map, allowing officials to access details of road-cleaning activities through the app.

The app uses a colour-coded system to track the status of each road. Red indicates that a road is yet to be cleaned, while yellow means cleaning work has begun and a photograph of the ongoing work has been uploaded.

Once a road is cleaned, it is marked green on the app. The green status remains for 48 hours, after which it automatically turns red, indicating that the road is due for cleaning again.

The app also uses black to indicate that a cleaning photograph has been rejected, either because the road was not cleaned properly or dust was still visible. This system enables KMC officials to monitor road-cleaning work and ensure roads are regularly maintained.
