Kishan Reddy Thanks Modi for Boosting Telangana Rice Procurement
The decision, translating into an additional 12 LMT of paddy procurement, will provide greater support to the farming community
Hyderabad: Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi for prioritising the interests of Telangana's farmers by enhancing the procurement of rice by eight Lakh Metric Tonnes (35 LMT to 43 LMT) from Telangana for Rabi season 2025–26.
“Several members of the BJP including MPs, MLCs and MLAs recently accompanied me in meeting Pralhad Joshi on July 8 regarding this matter and requested him to consider this in the interest of farmers,” he said.
This decision, translating into an additional 12 LMT of paddy procurement, will provide greater support to the farming community. “I also urge the Telangana government to honour its pending commitments from previous procurement seasons and hand over the agreed quantity of rice to FCI at the earliest in the interest of farmers and the Public Distribution System,” he added.
