Karimnagar Circle of TG NPDCL Leads in Real-Time Power Supply Monitoring
Real-time feeder monitoring aims to detect faults early, speed up power restoration and improve supply reliability.
Warangal: Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TG NPDCL) is expanding the use of advanced technology to reduce power interruptions and ensure quick identification and resolution of faults.
As part of this initiative, Karimnagar circle has achieved a major milestone under the Real-Time Feeder Monitoring System (RTFMS). It has become the first circle to complete 100 per cent integration of all its 82 substations with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
Of the 1,424 substations identified for integration across the TG NPDCL network, 1,005 substations have been integrated. The remaining 419 substations are expected to be integrated with the SCADA system within the next two months.
TG NPDCL officials said integration of substations in Hanamkonda, Khammam, and Kumaram Bheem Asifabad circles is likely to be completed shortly.
TG NPDCL chairman and managing director Karnati Varun Reddy said continuous monitoring of power supply, early identification of potential faults, and faster response from field staff would help improve services to consumers. He said the utility is extensively adopting technology to enhance the efficiency of its distribution network.
Expressing satisfaction over Karimnagar circle’s achievement, Varun Reddy congratulated engineers and staff involved in the initiative. He said TG NPDCL aims to strengthen the power distribution network using modern technology and provide to consumers quality and uninterrupted supply of electricity.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who holds the Energy portfolio, recently laid the foundation stone for the modernisation of the power system at Madhira in Khammam district.
Special chief secretary (Energy) Naveen Mittal is supervising the implementation of RTFMS, which enables real-time monitoring of feeder performance.
Alerts are generated the moment power supply is interrupted, feeders get overloaded, or voltage fluctuations occur. Analysis of electricity consumption, load, and voltage levels helps officials identify the root causes of problems and take preventive measures.
The SCADA control room allows officials to monitor supply conditions and alert field staff immediately. This helps reduce the duration of power interruptions and speed up restoration.
