Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Friday said land acquisition for the 161.5-km northern section of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) had been completed and fresh tenders would be invited soon. The final clearance for the Rs 12,073-crore Hyderabad-Vijayawada six-lane highway project is expected from the Centre shortly.

The RRR northern section will connect Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Jagdevpur, Bhongir and Choutuppal. The minister said two earlier rounds of tenders had been cancelled due to incomplete land acquisition. With the process now completed, fresh tenders would be invited, while the detailed project report (DPR) was nearing completion.

Venkat Reddy said he had urged Union minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite financial clearances and Union Cabinet approval for the northern section. He also sought equal priority for the RRR southern stretch, which is crucial for the development of Bharat Future City, industrial parks and radial roads.

The minister said the state had secured approval for the expansion of National Highway-65 along the Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Machilipatnam corridor into a six-lane highway with two additional service lanes. The project had cleared the technical committee stage and was awaiting Union Cabinet approval.

He said the government aimed to complete the tendering process within two months and begin work after obtaining final clearances. He urged the Centre to expedite clearances for the proposed 52-km elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam along NH-765 through the Nallamala forest.

He said the DPR for the Rs 7,600-crore project had been prepared. The proposed corridor would improve access for pilgrims visiting Srisailam while minimising ecological damage to the tiger reserve, he added.
