Kadiyam Kavya Seeks Centre’s Help For Telangana Victims In Nepal

Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya on Friday wrote to Union external affairs minister S. Jaishankar seeking immediate assistance for Telangana residents affected by the disaster in Nepal, where several people from the state were injured, killed or reported missing.

Kavya urged the Centre to intensify search operations for those missing and make arrangements to bring the mortal remains of the deceased back to India at the earliest. She also sought medical treatment, medicines and hospital facilities for the injured through coordination among the Indian Embassy in Nepal, consular officials and local authorities.

She called for the speedy identification of the deceased and completion of official procedures, besides extending all necessary support to their families until the mortal remains were transported to their native places.

The MP also urged authorities to step up search and rescue operations in coordination with Nepalese officials and ensure that affected families received regular updates from the Indian Embassy.

Meanwhile, Kavya spoke to senior officials at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu over the phone to assess the situation. She discussed the condition of the injured, efforts to trace those missing, identification of the deceased and arrangements to repatriate the mortal remains.

She urged the Centre, the Indian Embassy and Nepalese authorities to coordinate closely to provide timely assistance to every affected person from Telangana and monitor relief operations until all missing persons were traced.
