Hyderabad:ZPHS Janwada, a government school with about 750 students, will receive building repairs, classroom support and three humanoid robotic teachers under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Indus International School Hyderabad and the state government.

The school education department said the robotic teachers are expected to be introduced shortly and that ZPHS Janwada would be the first government school in the state to use humanoid teachers as part of daily classroom learning.

The MoU was exchanged on July 8 by Dr E. Naveen Nicolas, director of school education, and Farida Fraz, Principal of Indus International School Hyderabad.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment with the government of Telangana to create a sustainable model of excellence in public education that empowers every child to realise their full potential," Principal Fraz said. The partnership will cover academics, mentoring, leadership development and student activities. Students from both schools are expected to take part in service-learning and twinning activities.

Samuel Joseph, head of community school project, Indus Schools, said work on the Janwada school campus had been under way for the past eight months. “The old building was not in a condition where children could sit in classrooms and they did not have washrooms. We built a G+2 building with spacious classrooms.”

The Indus School took similar work at Kondakal five years ago, where it reconstructed a primary school and set up labs, computer labs and a library in the secondary school. Janwada was taken up next because it was close to Indus International School and had a large number of students who needed better basic facilities, Samuel added.
