Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Officials Begin Field Review Of Old City Heritage Bridges
Officials visit Puranapul among other sites on Thursday
HYDERABAD: MRDCL officials have begun a field review of Old City heritage bridges, with Puranapul among the sites visited on Thursdaay, as part of renovation and road-connectivity works planned on the Chief Minister’s instructions.
Corporation managing director E.V. Narsimha Reddy and joint managing director P. Gouthami also reviewed proposals to restore the old structures, strengthen them and improve commuter movement around the Musi corridor. The team examined road stretches that are now below high-flood levels. MRDCL said these stretches are proposed to be raised so that traffic links remain safe during floods.
The officials were briefed by the chief engineer, director (technical), director (project coordination) and project consultants on the structural repairs, hydraulic concerns and corridor-level design needs.
MRDCL officials also spoke to local residents, who flagged daily mobility problems, heritage preservation concerns and flood-related risks. The corporation said it would include public inputs, field observations and technical assessments in the final design and execution plan, and speed up the work.
