IT Professional Turns Passion for Fitness into International Powerlifting Gold

Hyderabad: A normal routine going to gym and staying fit has now turned into successful sporting journey for an IT professional, who has now emerged as an international powerlifter.
Ajay Benerjee, a native of Kolkata, moved to Hyderabad six years ago and has been working as a senior manager in the IT sector. With a demanding job that involves long hours to work, Ajay initially took up gym workouts to maintain his fitness. However, his interest in strength training gradually grew, inspiring him to take up powerlifting seriously.
With determination and consistent training, Ajay has worked hard over the past three years and won many medals at national and international powerlifting competitions.
His latest achievement came at the World Powerlifting Championship 2026, held in Manchester, UK, from September 9 to 14. Ajay secured a gold medal in 457.5 kg category.
