Interstate Exam Racket Busted in Hyderabad
Police recovered micro and nano earphones, spy GSM devices, modified mobile phones and other gadgets.
Hyderabad: An interstate examination malpractice racket was busted during the CSIR–IICT Multi‑Tasking Staff (MTS) recruitment exam in Hyderabad on Sunday. Nacharam police arrested 12 candidates for cheating with electronic devices.
The operation was conducted with CSIR–IICT officials after suspicious activity was noticed at St Pious X Degree, PG & MBA College for Women in Sneha Puri Colony under the Malkajgiri police commissionerate. Police recovered micro and nano earphones, spy GSM devices, modified mobile phones and other gadgets.
One candidate, Mandeep, was first caught with concealed devices, leading to further checks and the arrest of 11 others. The accused, from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, confessed to training through an organisation called Mind Q Typing in Haryana. They allegedly scanned question papers and transmitted them to handlers outside, who relayed answers back through hidden devices.
Police said the candidates paid between ₹1 lakh and ₹8 lakh to secure government jobs through unfair means. Eleven were examinees, while one suspect allegedly supported them from outside. Investigators are probing whether the 12th accused relayed answers inside the hall.
IICT officials said suspicious candidates were identified during internal monitoring and handed over to police. On whether the exam would be cancelled or reconducted, officials said no decision had been taken yet. Police are now investigating the wider interstate network and tracing handlers involved in the racket.
