Party leaders alleged that the victim would not get justice while he remained in office.
BJP workers opposed the protest and gathered at the spot, leading to a confrontation between the two groups. Both sides raised slogans against each other, including against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao.
The situation escalated into physical clashes, with activists from both parties engaging in pushing and assault. District superintendent of police Mahesh B. Gite rushed to the spot with additional forces. Police carried out a lathi-charge to disperse the groups as the situation went out of control. Several leaders and activists from both sides sustained injuries before police detained key protesters and shifted them to a police station.
Heavy police deployment has since been made at key junctions, including Ambedkar Chowrasta and Netanna Chowk, to prevent further incidents. Police said additional forces have been stationed across the town to monitor the law and order situation.
