Hyderabad: Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh had taken NCC Senior Wing Cadet Jakkula Tejasvi Reddy on a flying sortie aboard a Kiran aircraft at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, on October 20. The sortie took place before Air Chief Marshal Singh's final flying sortie with his first flying instructor, a defence release said here on Friday.

Before the flight, Tejasvi underwent cockpit familiarisation, safety briefings, training on ejection procedures and medical checks. Air Chief Marshal Singh briefed her on the aircraft’s specifications, components, engine functioning, cockpit procedures and safety systems before take-off.

During the sortie, he explained flight manoeuvres, angles and steep turns, and allowed the cadet to practise manoeuvres under his guidance.

The experience gave Tejasvi practical exposure to aviation and encouraged her aspiration to become an aviator, the release said. It also showcased opportunities for NCC Air Wing cadets to gain flying experience and explore careers in the armed forces.

The sortie took place ahead of Air Chief Marshak Singh’s final flight with his first flying instructor, Wing Commander V.S. Kochar (retd), in a Kiran Mk-1 trainer aircraft, tail number U707, at his alma mater, the AFA, bringing his flying career full circle, the release said.
