CM Striking Fear Instead Of Solving Drought: Harish
Harish Rao, in a statement following Revanth Reddy’s comments during a review on El Nino impact on Friday, said, “the truth is this drought is caused by incompetence of the Congress government and not caused by nature.
HYDERABAD: Former irrigation minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Friday accusde Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of “throwing up his hands on tackling drought” and that he was “trying to strike fear among farmers and the people instead of reassuring them in this period of crisis.”
Harish Rao, in a statement following Revanth Reddy’s comments during a review on El Nino impact on Friday, said, “the truth is this drought is caused by incompetence of the Congress government and not caused by nature.” He asked: “How can a ruler throw up his hands and say a drought is coming, and there is nothing I can do?”
He said it was the Chief Minister's responsibility to go to any lengths to provide drinking water, but all that Revanth Reddy was saying was that there would be no water available in the coming days. “If he knew for the past six months that drought was coming, why did he not lift water from Godavari and Krishna and fill reservoirs,” the BRS leader asked.
Demanding the release of a White Paper detailing water storage levels in state projects, drinking water requirements, status of irrigation water, and funds allocated for drought mitigation, Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy could insult him or former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao but that would not solve the problem of drought.
