HYDRAA’s Effort to Reclaim Jubilee Hills Land Gets Supreme Court Backing

Hyderabad: The efforts of HYDRAA to reclaim a parcel of land worth Rs 100 crore in Jubilee Hills got a boost with the Supreme Court, at the admission stage dismissing a special leave petition (SLP) filed by the encroachers. The land parcel, belonging to the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society, was earmarked for public utilities but was under occupation of a nursery owner.
Society president Bollineni Ravindranath had recently approached HYDRAA with documentary evidence against the encroachment and urged the latter to reclaim the land. Acting on the society’s complaint, HYDRAA had conducted an inquiry, issued a showcause notice, and passed a speaking order for the removal of illegal encroachments.
Challenging the notice, P. Satyanarayana, who is the alleged encroacher, filed a writ petition before the High Court. The High Court disposed of the petition, noting that HYDRAA had conducted a full inquiry and issued the speaking order.
Satyanarayana approached the Supreme Court alleging that demolition activities were underway. The Supreme Court, at the admission stage, dismissed the SLP. The society was represented before the Supreme Court by Dama Seshadri Naidu, senior counsel, and E. Venkata Siddhartha, advocate.
