From July 1, HYDRAA said, Disaster Response Force (DRF) and Monsoon Emergency Teams (METs) had worked on clearing waterlogging and removing silt and sediment in culverts and drain lines. It said the teams cleared 15,665 catch pits, and silt and sediment from 359 culverts
The agency said it had removed trash, debris and waste from 1,670 drain lines, and cleared 4,609 waterlogging points. They teams also cleared accumulated trash and waste at 4,974 locations.
At Malakpet’s Dabeerpura Darwaza, HYDRAA teams cleared more than 15 truckloads of accumulated trash. Teams were removing silt and soil from Alwal, Malkajgiri, Kukatpally, Tolichowki and Talabchanchalam, and building retaining walls to prevent flood water from entering colonies.
HYDRAA said that they will keep working on removing trash and waste which flows from upstream areas at Ameerpet’s Maitrivanam until a permanent solution is made, and said they have almost completed the cleaning of Tolichowki’s Bulkapur Nala and drain line at Gourishankar Basti.
GHMC Repaired 9,899 Potholes Out of 12,696
Hyderabad:The GHMC said it was carrying out a road safety campaign to fix damaged roads across the city. Out of 12,696 potholes identified, 9,899 had been repaired.
The civic body has also fixed 506 damaged catch pits, replaced 287 broken covers, and restored seven central medians.
With the rain ebbing and festivals around the corner, GHMC said it had intensified its work to restore roads, including both streets and national highways within its limits. GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan was said to be monitoring the work and directing officials to speed up the process.
The GHMC said its quick response to public complaints has earned praise from citizens. After commuters raised concerns on social media about large potholes on the Hi-Tec flyover, GHMC engineering teams immediately repaired the road and ensured smooth traffic flow.
Appreciating the move, social media user Kavali Chandrakanth thanked GHMC and wrote that the new road would help commuters travel “safely, easily, and faster.”
Brig. Kulkarni speaks at camp
