HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said it had imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on a residential apartment complex in Banjara Hills for wasting drinking water. According to Water Board officials, a complaint was received alleging that water was being discharged onto the road from Sri Sairam's West End Apartment in Anandnagar Colony, Banjara Hills, under CAN 619347736.
Officials from the Banjara Hills ward, Jubilee Hills circle, and O&M Division-XV inspected the site and found that water supply to the apartment was scheduled for the following day. However, residents had drained water onto the road while cleaning the overhead storage tanks.
The Water Board stated that wasting valuable drinking water and allowing it to flow onto public roads is a violation of regulations. Consequently, a penalty of ₹10,000 was imposed on the consumer. Officials also warned that repeated violations could result in the disconnection of the apartment's water supply services.
