RTC Celebrates State Formation Day
Nagireddy explained the Mahalakshmi free bus travel for women scheme, had enabled millions of women, female students and transgender individuals to travel safely and free of cost.
Hyderabad:The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation officials noted that the transporter stood as a role model for other states by operating electric buses, a first‑of‑its‑kind initiative in the country, and by providing a historic boost to women’s self‑help groups through the allocation of buses.
During the State Formation Day celebrations, at RTC Bus Bhavan, participants recalled the role of employees of the corporation in the agitations for statehood. RTC Managing Director V. Nagi Reddy extended special commendations to drivers, conductors and staff for rendering exemplary services despite increased passenger congestion.
Nagireddy explained the Mahalakshmi free bus travel for women scheme, had enabled millions of women, female students and transgender individuals to travel safely and free of cost. He added that the government places the utmost priority on the economic and social empowerment of women, and the scheme was designed to ease the financial burden of transport while enhancing opportunities for employment and education. He revealed that the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme has already set a record by facilitating 10 billion free journeys for women.
