Hyderabad SHE Teams Nab 3,068 for Harassing Women in Public Places
As part of the enforcement action, 106 petty cases were booked. Out of these, five of them received imprisonment up to seven days jail and fine of Rs.1050
Hyderabad: Under the supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, SHE Teams and Women and Child Safety Wing implemented extensive security and surveillance measures to ensure the safety, security, and dignity of women and children attending the festivities across the city.
Considering the large congregations at temples, procession routes, bus stops, metro stations, market places, and other crowded locations, SHE Teams intensified deployment in vulnerable areas through plain-clothes surveillance and video monitoring.
Deputy Commissioner of police, Women and Child Safety Wing, Dr. Lavanya NJP, said the SHE Teams maintained close and intensive vigilance at major crowded locations, procession routes, entry and exit points, transport hubs and other vulnerable places to prevent harassment and ensure the safety, dignity and security of women and girls.
Special attention was focused on preventing eve-teasing, harassment, stalking, passing obscene comments, misbehaving with women, unwanted physical contact and other forms of harassment in public places. Persons found red-handed while indulging in such acts were subjected to appropriate legal and preventive legal action.
During the enforcement operations of SHE Teams in September, a total of 3068 persons were caught red-handed for misbehavior and harassment of women in public places, including 113 minors.
As part of the enforcement action, 106 petty cases were booked. Out of these, five of them received imprisonment up to seven days jail and fine of Rs.1050, 40 cases resulted in fine of Rs.1,050 and social services up to five days ,61 cases resulted in only fine of Rs.1,050 each.
Further, 961 persons were counseled, warned and let off after necessary preventive action, while 2,001 cases are pending for disposal.
