Hyderabad: A major alleged fraud under the guise of a "free launch offer" has come to light in Hyderabad, where the victims have accused Tripura Constructions of allegedly cheating them and staged a protest on Wednesday. According to the complainants, the company collected around Rs 500 crore from about 350 people in the name of the offer.

The aggrieved buyers approached the Central Crime Station (CCS) police and lodged a complaint seeking action against Pasupuleti Sudhakar, associated with Tripura Constructions.

Many of those who say they were cheated are former employees of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and software engineers. They invested in the project hoping to secure homes through the free launch offer, in which buyers pay in advance before a project is formally launched.
The victims have also alleged that the company put the land up for sale to another firm, even after taking money from buyers for it. The allegations have not been proven, and no response from Tripura Constructions or Sudhakar was available at the time of writing.
Police are yet to disclose the status of the case and further details are awaited.
