According to the Ombudsman, the decision stems from the allegation that former HCA president Mohammad Azharuddin unilaterally named the stand after himself during his time in office.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is once again facing controversy, this time concerning the removal of the Azharuddin Stand at the Uppal Stadium.

The HCA's Ombudsman has issued an order for the immediate removal of the stand's name. According to the Ombudsman, the decision stems from the allegation that former HCA president Mohammad Azharuddin unilaterally named the stand after himself during his time in office.
However, Azharuddin's supporters within the HCA are vehemently opposing this move. They argue that it is entirely appropriate for a stand to bear the name of Azharuddin, considering his distinguished career as the former captain of the Indian national cricket team and his significant contributions as an international athlete.
Adding another layer to the dispute, Azharuddin's faction is claiming that the current HCA president is orchestrating the removal of the stand as part of a larger conspiracy against the former captain. This latest development further deepens the ongoing turmoil within the Hyderabad cricket body.
