TGCSB uncovers 121 mule accounts in Khammam crackdown
A special enforcement operation by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) in Khammam uncovered 121 suspected mule bank accounts and financial transactions worth ₹7.84 crore, including ₹6.23 crore in disputed transactions.
TGCSB Director Shikha Goel stated that the operation, conducted jointly with Khammam law and order police on Wednesday and Thursday, targeted multiple bank branches, ATM centres and other suspect locations across the district. As part of an extensive financial analysis, the TGCSB identified 121 mule accounts across 30 bank branches, 273 accounts linked to high-value ATM withdrawals, 12 accounts involving cheque withdrawals exceeding ₹20,000 and 25 suspect locations across the Khammam Unit. Investigators found that the identified accounts and locations were linked to several cybercrime cases reported in Telangana and elsewhere in the country.
The operation has so far resulted in the registration of 25 FIRs across eight police stations. Seven FIRs each were registered at Khammam II Town and Khanapuram Haveli police stations, four at Khammam I Town, two each at Khammam III Town and Khammam Rural, and one each at Karapally, Nelakondapally and Kamepally police stations.
The crackdown stems from two earlier cases involving persons from Khammam who allegedly provided their bank accounts and credentials for use as mule accounts to receive and route cybercrime proceeds. The accounts were also used to conceal the movement of funds and facilitate illegal online gaming-related financial transactions through Telegram groups linked to foreign-based Chinese operators.
Goel added that two more accused were arrested for providing 10 mule accounts for cyber fraud transactions. Fifty-two accused had previously been arrested in connection with the two cases.
The special drive involved 11 teams comprising 40 police personnel. Investigators will now examine transaction trails, ATM and cheque withdrawals, mobile numbers, devices and beneficiaries to trace the flow of funds and identify account handlers and facilitators linked to wider interstate cybercrime networks.
TGCSB urged citizens not to lend their bank accounts, ATM cards or banking credentials to others for commissions, warning that such accounts could be misused for cybercrime and attract legal consequences.

4 Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), in coordination with Khammam police, launched a special enforcement drive against facilitators of cyber fraud in Khammam district on September 2 and September 3. During the joint raids conducted by 11 teams comprising 40 police officers at multiple bank branches, ATM centres, and suspected locations, the police registered 25 FIRs at eight police stations and arrested two persons. Seven FIRs each have been registered at Khammam II Town and Khanapuram Haveli police stations, four at Khammam Town-I, two each at Khammam III Town and Khammam Rural, and one each at Karepally, Nelakondapally and Kamepally police stations. TGCSB sleuths arrested Badisa Murali Krishna and Vadlamudi Sainivas on charges of providing 10 mule bank accounts to facilitate cyber fraud transactions. Police said 52 persons have previously been arrested in various cyber fraud cases. The joint operation commenced after cases had been registered under Crime No. 234/2025 at Vanga Mutyala (V.M.) Banjara Police Station, Khammam, and Crime No. 86/2026 at Sathupally Police Station. The cases involved persons from Khammam district who had allegedly provided their bank accounts and credentials for use as mule accounts to receive and route proceeds of cyber fraud. The TGCSB said the two-day operation identified and disrupted financial channels being used to facilitate cyber fraud and illegal online gaming transactions. In earlier cases, mule accounts had allegedly been used for multiple transactions to conceal the movement of funds and facilitate illegal online gaming-related pay-ins and pay-outs through Telegram groups operated in coordination with foreign-based Chinese operators.
These cases had subsequently been transferred to the TGCSB for further investigation and re-registered as Crime Nos. 49/2026 and 50/2026 at the Cyber Crime Police Station, headquarters, TGCSB. Four accused have been arrested in Crime No. 49/2026. Investigations revealed multiple financial linkages, indicating the possible presence of an organised local network in Khammam that facilitated cyber fraud and related financial transactions in the district.
TGCSB director Shikha Goel said the special enforcement operation has been aimed at preventing cybercrime and ensuring that Khammam does not become a cybercrime hub. The operation targeted mule accounts, suspicious ATM and cheque withdrawals, suspected locations, financial channels, and persons allegedly involved in facilitating cyber fraud.
Investigators identified 121 mule accounts across 30 bank branches, 273 accounts linked to high-value ATM withdrawals, 12 accounts involved in cheque withdrawals above ₹20,000 and 25 suspected locations across Khammam. The accounts and locations are linked to cybercrime cases in Telangana and other parts of the country as well, the TGCSB said. An analysis showed total transactions of ₹7.84 crore.
The latest drive follows Operation Crackdown 1.0 conducted by the TGCSB in February 2026, during which 75 mule bank accounts had been identified across six bank branches in Khammam. Based on the findings, 75 FIRs had been registered and 25 persons arrested.
Profession-wise profiles of those arrested in the earlier operation include 10 businessmen, nine labourers, six private employees, six unemployed persons, and four former CSB Bank employees, besides others. Shikha Goel has advised citizens not to lend or share their bank accounts, ATM cards, PINs, OTPs or banking details, or open or provide accounts to others for commissions, as such accounts could be misused for cybercrime and lead to police action and legal consequences.
Those involved in the investigation included TGCSB superintendent of police B. Sai and Khammam commissioner of police Sunil Dutt.
No breakthrough in Bolaram weapons probe
Investigation into the theft of weapons and ammunition from the military establishment at Bolaram is being jointly pursued by the Army’s 54 Infantry Division (Bison Division), Malkajgiri police and Military Intelligence. However, sources confirmed that no samples or fingerprints collected during the probe have so far been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
Agencies are maintaining secrecy, citing national security concerns, even as investigators are yet to find a concrete lead. Teams from the Malkajgiri special operations team have examined CCTV footage in and around the area, detaining four persons seen on motorcycles before releasing them after finding they were merely passing through.
Residents reported increased movement of military personnel in surrounding areas, with outsourcing employees engaged in cleaning and other work being questioned. Investigators suspect the stolen weapons could still be concealed within the premises, noting the weight of the missing ammunition indicated more than one person’s involvement.
Sources said extensive verification of CCTV footage is under way, while forensic samples remain unexamined. An ex‑serviceman noted that usable fingerprints, if available, would be compared against national databases given the wider security implications. Failure to send samples could affect efforts to link evidence to known offenders, raising the possibility of a new perpetrator.
The probe remains sensitive, with investigators continuing to examine all possibilities.

The complaint was initially registered as a Zero FIR at Medipally police station before being transferred to Jubilee Hills police. Three accused — Arun Kumar Reddy, Mahender Reddy and Karthik — have been apprehended, with police likely to seek their custody for further questioning.
