Hyderabad: In a relief to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Telangana High Court on Friday quashed criminal defamation case against him.

The case pertains to the alleged defamatory remarks made by the CM against BJP during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign. BJP had complained that the CM claimed BJP would abolish reservations for weaker sections if voted to power.
Stating that these utterances were damaging the party's image, BJP leader Kasam Venkateswarlu filed the complaint before the magistrate court. A criminal case was lodged and the trial was on before the principal special judicial first class magistrate for excise cases which was designated as a special court for trying offences against legislators.
Revanth had filed a plea urging the court to quash this 'politically motivated case'.
Earlier, the court exempted him from appearing before the court.
