The Department of Heritage, Telangana, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday for collaboration on documentation, conservation, restoration and promotion of Telangana’s architectural and cultural heritage.

The MoU aims to strengthen major areas of documentation and digital recording of historical monuments, temples, forts, stepwells and other heritage structures.

The joint effort will include preparing measured drawings, photography, 3D documentation and digital mapping of the sites. The institution will also undertake conservation and restoration studies using scientific and architectural methods.

Students would get training and internships in heritage documentation, conservation and museum-related activities.

The MoU was signed in the presence of special chief secretary (YAT&C) Vani Prasad, heritage department director Arjun Rao and JNAFAU vice-chancellor Gangadhar.
